After receiving my absentee ballot in the mail, I was quite surprised to look over the names of all of the potential candidates and see that there is an African-American woman running for president who has a Hispanic running mate...
Has anyone else heard of Cynthia McKinney or Rosa Clemente???
According to Google, they are the nominated candidates for the Green Party. The Green Party appears to be focused on promoting the return to green for the world, the rise of power to the people, and ensuring equality between the races and genders.
I also read that these women are running the First All-Women-of-Color Presidential Ticket in US History. Indeed, McKinney was the first African-American Congresswoman to be elected in the state of Georgia. These two historical nuggets themselves should have been significant enough for these women to have made at least one headlining article on CNN, Yahoo, MSN news, or something...
I am actually baffled how I had no prior knowledge of these women who are essentially making U.S. history. The media continues to hype up the fact that Senator Obama is the first
black man to actually have a real chance at securing the presidency,
however, there has been NO mention of this black woman who is also
running for the presidency. Where is Congresswoman McKinney's campaign
manager and her publicity crew? Where are her posters and commercials
of self-promotion and belittling of the other candidate's tax plans?
It is crazy that the media has not taken advantage and promoted this very significant piece of historical information.
I am actually in the process of reading two different websites that talk about Congresswoman McKinney's party and political platform: http://votetruth08.com/ and https://mckinney2008.com/PRESIDENT/. Since I am in the process of educating myself further about this party and these candidates, I will refrain from commenting on whether I think their platform is substantial or not. Indeed, I am actually just appalled at my own ignorance and the fact that there has been little to no information online or in the media to provide information on this commemorative event.
Perhaps this has occurred because these women are not considered a real threat against the two more popular candidates, Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain. Perhaps these women have just not been taken seriously. Perhaps their party, the Green Party, is just too new with too radical ideas. Regardless of the reason for the media black-out regarding this presidential ticket, it is sad to see that in this day and time, something as important as two women of color running for the white house has been shoved under the rug and silenced as if they were never there. What do you think???
A quote from one of my favorite author's blogs...
"Let go of the day you had planned, and embrace the day you’ve been given..."
Words to remember when the world does not turn the way I want it to and the people in that world suddenly become blithering idiots who repeatedly try to put a square peg in a round hole. Such is the way my week had been going, then I read this wonderful sentence in a page of a blog of a person who has no idea how those words helped me to let go of the anger. I put this quote on my facebook page and I put it again on here. Maybe reading it will help someone else remember to be thankful for what they have been given instead of focusing on what they don't have or on what went wrong that day...
Hmm, definitely something to think about...
Thanks again, Laurell...
As an avid celebrity stalker, I am always keeping up on the latest celebrity gossip, news, etc. Imagine my shock today when I signed onto yahoo to see that Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother had been killed in her mother's home in Chicago. I mean, OMG. What horrific news to read online that one of your favorite celebrities is going through such a hard time. The article read that she was in Florida at the time and is currently rushing home to Chicago. To make matters worse, her 7 year old nephew is now missing. There is an amber alert out for him.
Please keep JHud and her family in your prayers during this time.
