I'm so tired this morning. I went to bed way too late last night. We had our second soccer game of the season last night. That seriously restricted 'us time' with my wife so we had to squeeze that in after the game. Once I was ready to finally go to bed I remembered that I hadn't iced down my leg. My Dad reminded me last week that I need to start doing that due to the fact that a) I have a surgically repaired knee and b) I'm over 30 now (groan). So by the time I finished icing my knee down it was almost 12:30. I slept like a rock but not for long since I had to get up at 6. That's a recipe for tiredness. I'd love to go for a walk at lunch to knock the cobwebs out but I have errands to run. It's all down hill after lunch though so I'll be alright (if I don't nod off first).

Valentine's day was great this year. I got to make my Sweetie smile which made the day really special. That's not to say I don't make her smile every day but yesterday was above and beyond. We have a new addition to our family. I gave my wife a cute little iPod Nano yesterday. Had to throw in the pink iSkin case as well. She loves pink. The Black Negro has a boo now too! I'm actually a little jealous. I want a new iPod too but that won't happen for a while. I'm holding out for an 80 gig iPod touch. Knowing Apple though I could be waiting a while. An 80 gig flash drive would be off the chain!!

Apparently the Black Negro was suffering from the affects of the cold weather. Now that he's warmed up he's on fire. Here's the real mix. The mix I knew he had in him.

The fact that this song came up in the random mix is funny. I did get lost this morning. I tried to get fancy and maneuver around an oncoming train and ended up getting lost. If had simply made the left turn like I do every morning and waited at the railroad crossing like everybody else I might have made it to work on time. But no I had to turn right and try to circle the block the other way thus avoiding the railroad tracks and "saving" a few minutes. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. My "quick" detour ended up taking me about 10 minutes out of the way. I ended up frustrated and late for work. I'll never do that again. Or at least not until I've fully mapped out the detour route. I obviously made a wrong turn somewhere in there. My manly sense of direction was severely bruised this morning.

Fall is finally here. It was 60 degrees this morning when I left for work. Today's high is 78. It's supposed to get down into the 50's tonight for a low. The blazing hot summer has come to an end in Memphis. Of course the temps could spike back up into the upper 80's next week for all we know. This is Memphis after all. We were in the 90's just last week. We'll enjoy the cool weather while it's here though.

My love of this song has been covered several times before so we'll just move on.

Yesterday I said Colbie's voice brought Shania Twain to mind. On this song I hear india.arie. I think I'll start calling Colbie the vocal chameleon.

It felt like Interpol had fallen off their game with their previous album, Antics. If that is indeed the case the band has come roaring back with this new album. I'm thoroughly enjoying listening to it thus far.

The New Sacred Cow is getting awfully old. Will there ever be a new Kenna album? My inquiring mind wants to know. It may be time to change the album title to Sacred Cow or Old Sacred Cow.
- Carrie Underwood - Starts with Goodbye - Some Hearts
This song//album is on The Black Negro (I have resigned myself to the iPod's new name because of my wife's refusal to call it by it's God given name, Gordo Negro Sugoi) because my wife loves Carrie Underwood. Not having watched American Idol before this last season I didn't know who she was until I started seeing her sing at every awards show imaginable over the last year or so. She's definitely growing on me. Her voice is incredible and the good looks don't hurt her mass appeal either.
- Hoobastank - Born To Lead - Every Man For Himself
- Jamiroquai - Didjerama - Travelling Without Moving
- AFI - Paper Airplanes (Makeshift Wing) - Sing The Sorrow
This has been the soundtrack of my day so far. Talk about a diverse list of artists and genres. Just further proof of my desire to not be boxed in whether it be intellectually, physically or in my musical preferences. I thought it was going to be an all hip-hop all the time type of day with the way Black Negro came out of the gates. It all balanced out in the end though.
It's not Friday morning any more but I figured I'd back track and knock out a random mix. So here's what the iPod spit out this morning from the time I woke up to the time I pulled in at work.

Lots of DMB in there. I ain't mad at that. One of my trumpet playing idols (from back when I played), Maynard Ferguson (R.I.P.) is in the mix. We've got some old school DC Talk along with some old school U2. Overall it's a nice mix of genres. Good looking out GNS.
