The first best lyric Friday proved to be much more of an undertaking than I thought it would be. It took me all day to complete in between calls here at work. With that in mind I'm scaling it down a bit. I'll only put up my absolute favorite lyrics from a select number of songs in the list. Let's begin.

I love this song. It features what is probably the most sampled drum break in history. James Brown gets out of the way and lets his band do it's thing. He throws in his James Brownisms here and there but for the most part it's just the band. JB had a really awesome band.

One of my favorite DMB songs...now in acoustic!
Valentine's day was great this year. I got to make my Sweetie smile which made the day really special. That's not to say I don't make her smile every day but yesterday was above and beyond. We have a new addition to our family. I gave my wife a cute little iPod Nano yesterday. Had to throw in the pink iSkin case as well. She loves pink. The Black Negro has a boo now too! I'm actually a little jealous. I want a new iPod too but that won't happen for a while. I'm holding out for an 80 gig iPod touch. Knowing Apple though I could be waiting a while. An 80 gig flash drive would be off the chain!!

I was surprised to see that I haven't done one of these things since 11/29. I definitely haven't NOT been listening to music since that time. I can't think of the last time I went a day without listening to some form of music on my ipod or computer or *gasp* on the radio. December was just crazy around here as I'm sure it was for everyone. My normal blogging time (here at work *gasp*) was cut way down due to an inordinately busy December. It's usually dead around here in December but not this year. I guess folks were trying to get their grind on in hopes of getting a bigger merit reward this spring. But whatever. This is the mix. It's the first one of the year. Yaaay...?

I had never seen the Lovestoned / I Think She Knows video before that night. My MTV / VH1 watching has fallen' to almost 0 as of late. I guess I'm getting old. I'm not as hip to what's cool with the kiddies any more. I found this to be the most interesting JT video to date. You don't actually see him in the flesh until the very end when the song transitions into the softer, more melodic I Think She Knows section. It's very well done. I like the futuristic vibe displayed throughout.
